Authority Design Lab raises an additional question: who may change that allocation? Approving an exception and redesigning the policy that produces exceptions are different interventions. Our agenda treats this distinction as a research and organizational design problem.
Consider a commercial order that exceeds an automated approval limit. A system may identify the exception, recommend an action, and refer it to a person. The organization still needs to specify who decides, who may challenge the decision, and who may change the limit. This is an illustrative example, not an empirical case from the lab.
Our aim is to make these choices visible and open to examination. Tools and studies help investigate their effects. No configuration should be presented as superior for every organization.
